Course Description
OU ED 702 METHODS OF RESEARCH
Use of research methods and techniques in the problems of education, with emphasis on appropriate methods in the preparation of thesis or special problem
3 UnitsOU ED 701 STATISTICS
Different theories and methodologies in statistical analyses that are commonly used in education. It includes sampling, measures of central tendency and variability, probability, distribution, test of hypothesis, simple correlation and simple regression analyses, analysis of variance, chi-square analysis and other non-parametric statistics.
3 UnitsOU ED 707 SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION
Principles and approaches in problem solving and decision making; familiarization with new management concepts and trends and in-depth discussion of specific problems and issues to clarify/illustrate concepts covered.
3 UnitsOU MATH 710 REGRESSION AND CORRELATION ANALYSIS
An in-depth study of the relationships of random variables using the simple, partial and multiple correlation analyses and simple linear, multiple and non-linear regression analyses.
3 UnitsOU MATH 705 SET THEORY AND LOGIC
Rudiments of pure mathematics. Logic gives the language and thr rules upon which corrent reasoning is based. It developes the learner's ability to verify the correctness of arguments. On the other hand, set theory acts as a basic tool for all other branches of Mathematics. It is in itself a complex mathematical network. In Set Theory, the learner gets to apply the skills that they has learned in logic as the verify theorems. Topics include fundamentals of logic, arguments, quantification, methods
3 UnitsOU MATH 706 NUMBER THEORY
The theory of number is concerned, at least its elementary aspect, with the properties of integers, more particularly with positive integers. It gives simple account of classical number theory such as Divisibility Theory, Diophantine Equation, Primes and their Distribution, Theory of Congruence. Fermat’s Theorem, Continued Fractions, some Number Theoretic Functions, and Primitive Roots and Indices. Also, it imparts some historical background in which the subject evolves.
3 UnitsOU MATH 707 LINEAR ALGEBRA AND MATRIX THEORY
Study of vector spaces and subspaces, linear dependence, linear transformations and matrices, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, diagonalization and similarity transformation.
3 UnitsOU MATH 709 MATH ANALYSIS
Elementary and transcendental functions and their properties, limits, derivatives and integrals are covered. Topics include sequences, infinite series and power series, functions of several variables, partial differentiation and multiple integrals.
3 UnitsOU MATH 710 REGRESSION AND CORRELATION ANALYSIS
An in-depth study of the relationships of random variables using the simple, partial and multiple correlation analyses and simple linear, multiple and non-linear regression analyses.
3 UnitsOU ED 720 PSYCHOLOGY OF LEARNING
Learning and cognitive development theories of human development and learning; reinforcement, motivation, modeling memory, transfer of learning and individual differences; application of learning theories to instruction and researches to educational practice.
3 UnitsOU ED 755 POLICIES AND ISSUES IN EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT
Analysis and synthesis of educational policies with particular emphasis on the process involved in policy formulation, implementation and evolution.
3 UnitsOU MATH 711 PROBABILITY THEORY
Discussion of counting techniques, probability and probability distribution of random variables and its properties, discrete probability models, continuous probability models, joint and conditional distributions, sampling and sampling distributions.
3 UnitsOU MATH 712 DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS
An introductory course in ordinary differential equations (ODEs) focusing on primarily on techniques for finding explicit solutions to linear ODEs. Topics include first order ordinary differential equations, linear differential equations, linear equations with constant coefficients, non-homogeneous equations, undetermined coefficients, and variation of parameters, linear systems of equations, the existence and uniqueness of solutions.
3 UnitsOU MATH 798 SPECIAL PROBLEM IN MATHEMATICS
Evaluation of development trends in Mathematics and recent advances in specific subjects in Mathematics and Mathematics education. Preparation, presentation and acceptance of a report on a trend or recent development in Mathematics education is required.
